About us

Karjolen was started in Hokksund in 1990 by Jorunn Sandnes and Bente Skott-Myhre. We wanted to establish a store with special items for the home, and to differentiate ourselves from the growing number of chain stores being established.

In May 1991, we moved to Krokstadelva and Spareland, as the center was called then. Some may remember that for a period we were called Spareland Trill Inn, as all stores had to be named Spareland, and we found Spareland Karjolen to be an unwieldy name.

When the center took the name Buskerud Storsenter in 2005, it felt natural to revert to our original name, Karjolen. The center has undergone major changes over the years, and in connection with the extensive renovation in 2017, we also rebuilt our store. Over the past 34 years, Karjolen has become a recognized and established player in the market. 

Since the autumn of 2020, Bente has managed Karjolen as daily manager and sole owner. Bente is passionately dedicated to finding beautiful and unique decorative items for the home. In addition, we have several super-skilled employees who are all passionate about interior design and driven by creating the best shopping experience for our customers. We warmly welcome all old and new customers to our store at Alti Buskerud and to our online store. We look forward to seeing you.
