About us

Karjolen was started in Hokksund in 1990 by Jorunn Sandnes and Bente Skott-Myhre. We wanted to establish a store with special items for the home and stand out from the growing number of chain stores being established.

In 1991, we moved to Krokstadelva and Spareland, as the shopping center was called then. Some may remember that for a period we were called Spareland Trill Inn, as all the stores had to be called Spareland, and we felt Spareland Karjolen was a bit of a mouthful.

When the shopping center took the name Buskerud Storsenter in 2005, it felt natural to return to our original name, Karjolen. The shopping center has undergone major changes over the years, and in connection with a major renovation in 2017, we also renovated our store. Over the past 36 years, Karjolen has become a well-established and respected player and store in the market. 

Since 2020, Bente has run Karjolen as general manager and owner. Bente is passionate about finding beautiful and unique decorative items for the home. In addition, we have several fantastic employees who are all passionate about interior design and driven to create the best shopping experience for our customers. We warmly welcome all old and new customers to our store at Alti Buskerud and to our online store. We look forward to seeing you.
